V COM-Auburn’s Student Government Association works emphasizing community and collaboration. SGA is responsible for leading the Council of Presidents (COPs) meetings throughout the year. These facilitate communication among leaders on campus and provide information to various student-run organizations. SGA hosts a plethora of activities throughout the year, which gives students an opportunity to explore outside of the classroom. In the summer and fall, SGA represented VCOM on a national level at the Council of Student Government Presidents’ (COSGP) conferences, and at the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) House of Delegates. SGA also facilitated Big-Little medical student matches, Osteolympics, and Day of Service. In July of 2019, SGA and SOMA co-hosted Big-Little to help integrate the Class of 2023 into the VCOM family. A lunch was provided to help foster connections between the first- and second- year students. October consisted of Osteolympics and an ice-cream social. Osteolympics brought out the competitive sides of both first and second year students, where the Class of 2022 was deemed the winner. The ice-cream social allowed first year students to learn about the multiple student organizations available on Auburn’s campus, and how they could become involved. VCOM Day of Service took place in November and consisted of many student organizations partnering together to plan community service events affiliated with Women’s Hope and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The year 2020 brought about many unusual changes due to closely with administration, professors, clinicians and students to provide an environment that promotes learning while also

COVID-19. Fortunately, SGA was allowed to participate in COSGP’s National OMS Day of Wellness, and virtually participate in the National COSGP Spring Business Meeting in March. During the month of April, SGA partnered with SOMA to raise money to help supply the East Alabama Food Bank, and in June SGA hosted a virtual student panel with third year students to discuss clinical rotation sites. SGA would not have been able to accomplish all it did without the support from the student body and assistance from Student Services.
