RURAL & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Clinical Faculty J.J. White, DO Serves His Community “As an emergency medicine physician, I feel that the support from our local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic has been truly amazing. Notes of encouragement from patients, family members and those in the community have helped ease the stress of front line work while we learn and implement new safety procedures and protocols so we may best treat those in need. As a faculty member of VCOM- Auburn, it was an honor to help organize and donate PPE supplies from the College’s Simulation Center, Department of Surgery and Anatomy Lab to the healthcare providers at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.”
ACOEP Breakfast for Local EMS Personnel The VCOM-Auburn chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians delivered bagels and coffee to the Emergency Department at East Alabama Medical Center, the EMS Station 1 crew and the Life Saver crew on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in thanks and to celebrate EMS week. This event encouraged collaboration with the local community, increased medical student awareness of EMS services and demonstrated student commitment to increasing access to health care.
