T he purpose of the Via Wellness program at the VCOM-Auburn campus is to promote a healthy mind, body and spirit. The program provides enrichment to campus life through a wide variety of sports, fitness and exercise, as well as social, cultural and spiritual events. Students, faculty, staff and their family members are welcome to participate in all Via Wellness activities at VCOM-Auburn. Every incoming VCOM student is automatically a part of Via Wellness as soon as they walk in the door. This past year, Via Wellness has hosted several events throughout the year to help maintain balance in the life of students. Some of these events were hosted periodically, such as DO Day of Wellness. This event was hosted every block and combined painting, coloring, creating stress relief balls and healthy snacks to give students a break. An End of Block Celebration was held to celebrate the completion of Blocks 1 and 5, including socializing and snacks out on the VCOM back patio. Bootcamp and kickboxing workout classes were held for all faculty and students, conveniently right here on campus. Other events included trivia games and scavenger hunts! Via Wellness is an organization that is always listening to the student body as a whole, and where the events have the wellness of the student at heart! Recent events for Via Wellness Social include celebrating the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) Wellness Week in March. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online events were held, including meditation and a NOM (National Osteopathic Medicine) week celebration where VCOM students used different social media methods to participate. It was truly amazing to see the outpouring of support even though it was an online event! These events signify the importance Via Wellness plays in the VCOM family.
