The VCOM-Auburn student chapter of the Student Osteopathic Internal Medicine Association (SOIMA) strives to enhance student knowledge about the field of internal medicine and its many exciting specialties. SOIMA’s mission is to serve the student body by preparing future physicians for a career in internal medicine. The focus of SOIMA and the vision of the executive board has been to provide platforms where the students can obtain impactful information regarding internal medicine and the profession as a whole, as well as help students develop a skill. SOIMA also prides itself on serving the community of Auburn through numerous volunteer and outreach programs. Members are active in serving the community by setting up health clinics at local events where students perform wellness screenings. This is

performed under the tutelage of VCOM faculty physicians where the club has close partnerships with local free-standing clinics. Throughout this year, members have focused on bringing speakers to talk to the students about residency and their specialties. The club hosted workshops to learn skills that students are likely to use in rotations and practice. For example, SOIMA hosted a diabetic foot clinic where students learned how to perform a monofilament test, as well as screening for peripheral artery disease by means of the Ankle Brachial Index and a doppler. As mentioned, SOIMA has been very active in the community by providing health screenings at local events. Most importantly, the club has
