to help the VCOM family value the principles of equity in healthcare and everyday living.

SNMA celebrated black history month with Dr. Darnita Hill as the keynote speaker presenting “Blacks in Osteopathic Medicine,” while enjoying Cajun and Jamaican cuisine. This year, Joselyn Miller, Class of 2021, served as the Region IV Community Service Liaison. She is an advocate for serving the underserved communities around the region and for mentoring pre-medical undergraduate students that are making impacts in the regions around their college campuses. Her job was to promote the mission and community service protocol of SNMA by assisting 35 schools within the region to develop and implement community service programming. Additionally, Tierra Sanders, Class

SNMA continued to host some of the annual events passed down from past E-boards. Most notable are the Diversity Panel/Potluck and the big Talent/Fashion Show which raises funds for Big House. The Diversity Panel consisted of a group of awesome physicians that spanned various cultures and specialties in medicine. The physicians were able to share their traditions, heritage and journey through medicine. The students prepared food potluck style representative of various cultures. In November, SNMA hosted the most anticipated “VCOM’s Got Talent!” This year’s show boasted acts from Drs. Kraig Smith, Guangming Wu, and Rian Anglin while the VCOM family enjoyed carnival style cotton candy, popcorn and cowboy dip. To wrap up the academic year, SNMA established a partnership with Loachapoka Elementary and High School. The VCOM family sponsored angels and presented gifts to the kindergarteners and first grade students at the Loachapoka Angels Christmas Party. The kids enjoyed snacks, face painting, balloon sculpture and ornament crafting. SNMA recently hosted its first Health and Wellness Education session with the high school students which focused on bullying, self-esteem and mindfulness. In February,

of 2021, became a member of the National Future Leadership Project of SNMA. This program is designed to recruit and mentor next generation leaders for SNMA. It provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills, receive mentorship from SNMA

officers, and engage in professional and personal growth.
