Mission The mission of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) is to prepare globally minded, community-focused physicians to meet the needs of rural and medically underserved populations and promote research to improve human health. VCOM’s faculty, staff and students value professionalism, integrity, duty, compassion, altruism, knowledge and critical thinking. Class of 2022 Statement The Class of 2022 adopted this class statement at orientation to reflect their commitment to VCOM and their future as osteopathic physicians: We have been invited to join the ranks of healthcare professionals, and to connect as driven individuals with unique stories from varying regions of the world. Our pursuit of the biomedical sciences and arts is fueled by our love for people and the curiosity that fills our minds.
In the face of the inevitable battles of our profession we will be steadfast and maintain an optimistic resolve.
We converge as a unified body of lifelong learners, leaders and healers to bring comfort to the ill and provide aid to those in need without bias. Together, we will be stewards of wellbeing, working in harmony with one another as the mind, body and spirit harmonize to breathe life into the world.
The Degree of Osteopathic Medicine
The Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree is granted to and conferred by VCOM upon candidates who are of good moral, professional and ethical character and have satisfactorily completed all academic and national board requirements.
