T he American College of Osteopathic Neurologists and Psychiatrists (ACONP) chapter at VCOM- Auburn strives to inform students about the practice of medicine and to foster interest within the fields of neurology and psychiatry. It is also the club’s aim to have an active presence within the community. This gives ACONP members opportunities to interact with the community, while also exercising their desires to serve others. Throughout the last year, ACONP had multiple events on campus. The organization hosted a “Pet

for all students, not just for those interested in neurosurgery. ACONP’s biggest event of the year was the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Q & A with Chris Sigler, a former U.S. Army soldier. Sigler discussed his battle with PTSD, and also gave insight into how physicians can be effective in treating PTSD in the future. His perspective was invaluable, and everyone that attended benefited greatly from hearing his story. Within the Auburn community, ACONP was involved in Awesome Goals Soccer, which is an opportunity for the

Day” in October, where students could take a break from studying and enjoy being outside with their pets and interacting with fellow students. ACONP also brought in a neurosurgeon as a guest speaker to tell members

organization’s members to play soccer with mentally and physically disabled children. ACONP looks forward to remaining active in the community by participating in Awesome Goals Soccer next fall.
