VCOM - Auburn 2018 Yearbook

V COM-Auburn’s Student Government Association (SGA) serves students of VCOM, and accommodates the myriad of student organizations and interest groups that are active throughout the year. SGA is also responsible for running Council of Presidents (COPs) meetings to facilitate communication between organization leaders and to provide necessary information and timelines to student-run clubs. SGA hosted the 2017 Student Organization Ice Cream Social. OMS I students are allowed to join student organizations after successful completion of the first block. At the Ice Cream Social, each student organization had a different ice cream topping, and OMS I students visited each organization to get the topping and learn more SGA Student Government Association

about the organization. SGA also runs the “Big Little” program, which pairs a first-year with a second- year student. The first “Big Little” event was held in downtown Opelika, Alabama. On behalf of the student body, SGA also communicates with the faculty and administration through administration round tables. SGA members serve as voting members in the yearly AOA House of Delegates meeting. They also represent the student body of VCOM at the the quarterly AACOM Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) conferences. SGA is honored to support its classmates and join with administration to make medical education a positive experience.
