VCOM - Auburn 2018 Yearbook
T he Student Advocate Association (SAA) at VCOM- Auburn is an organization for spouses, children and loved ones of VCOM students. SAA supports and encourages osteopathic medical students by hosting various on campus events. This year, SAA hosted a variety of holiday parties, including Halloween pumpkin painting, a Thanksgiving dinner and Valentine’s Day cupcake decorating. Many students are unable to travel home during the holidays, therefore these activities provide students and their families with a way to celebrate and support each other during the holiday season. SAA members also attended Accepted Students Day to personally invite the loved ones of the incoming class of 2022 to join the organization. Family members were given the opportunity to ask questions about the challenges of supporting an Osteopathic medical student. SAA members provided simple advice: “Make a priority to spend quality time with your loved ones.” The pressures of medical school can feel overwhelming, but with the support of family and friends that are experiencing SAA Student Advocates Association

The goal of SAA is to give every loved one an outlet to share their experiences and to support each other and their future physicians, without sacrificing special family moments together. SAA is always looking for new ways to advocate and serve VCOM-Auburn and its students.
