Virginia Campus Harsha Bhagtani, MD Network of the National Library of Medicine, Health Information Outreach award: Feed, Read, and Grow: Pediatric Anxiety Management. This project is funded through an NIH National Library of Medicine grant awarded to The University of Maryland Baltimore. Dr. Bhagtani is the PI and VCOM co-Investigators are Ed Magalhaes, PhD; David Redden, PhD (VCOM Auburn); and Elaine Powers, MSLS. P. Gunnar Brolinson, DO National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, NIH: Cranial Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Enhances Brain Fluid Flow Alleviating Neuroinflammation. Dr. Brolinson serves as the PI on this R01. David Redden, PhD (VCOM-Auburn) is a co investigator, and Virginia Tech’s Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics (BEAM) is a subcontractor to VCOM. Uniformed Services University, DOD: Syndromic Surveillance to Address Emerging Biothreats. Together with Fred Rawlins II, DO, Dr. Brolinson serves as VCOM Co-PI. This is a four-campus project, and the following are co-investigators: Lora Bennett, MD; Alexis Stoner, PhD; Tom Lindsey, DO (VCOM Carolinas); Heather Price, CSM; Taylor Daniels, MS; Jan Michalak, MA; Rykeem Alexander, MS; Janella Looney, MSHI; Ryan Martin, BAE (Virginia Campus). DOD: Machine Learning Analysis of Ultrasound Images for the Investigation of Thoracolumbar Myofascial Pain and Therapeutic Efficacy of Hydrodissection. Virginia Tech is the prime recipient of this award, and Dr. Brolinson serves as the VCOM PI. Al Kozar, DO and David Redden, PhD (VCOM Auburn) are investigators. National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, NIH: Focused Ultrasound Therapies for the Non-Invasive Treatment of Tendinopathies. Virginia Tech is the prime on this R21 award, and Dr Brolinson is the VCOM PI.

Alliance for Regenerative Rehabilitation Research and Training (AR3T): Focused Ultrasound Stimuli-Responsive Hydrogels for the Non-Invasive Rehabilitation. Dr. Brolinson serves as the VCOM PI on this research; VCOM is a subcontract on an award to Virginia Tech. Dr. Costa is the PI on this R15 award. Hope Tobey, DO; Gunnar Brolinson, DO; and several VMCVM collaborators are RayBiotech: Investigating the Antimicrobial and Wound Healing Properties of a Naturally Occurring Sap. Dr Johnson is PI, and Jim Mahaney, PhD serves as an investigator. Al Kozar, DO American Osteopathic Association: Assessment of the Therapeutic Efficacy of OMT on Chronic Low Back Pain: An Integrated Sonographic and Machine Learning Analysis of Thoracolumbar Fascia Glide Impairment. Dr. Kozar leads this project as PI, and Gunnar Brolinson, DO and Ed Magalhaes, PhD are investigators. Edward Magalhaes, PhD The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): VCOM Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Program. Dr. Magalhaes is the PI on this VCOM-wide program.
