OUTREACH
International Outreach Extending Care Beyond Borders I nternational outreach is a meaningful part of the VCOM experience and a direct reflection of the College’s mission to prepare globally minded physicians. Through this work, the VCOM community provides much-needed care in the Dominican Republic, as well as Santa Rosa de Copán and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Through partnerships with local organizations and in-country physicians, care is delivered with cultural awareness and aligned with the specific needs of each community. Introducing New Leadership In 2025, VCOM’s Office of International Affairs welcomed new leadership as Jonas Rawlins, DO, FACP, joined the College as vice president. In this role, Dr. Rawlins (shown below) will build relationships with partners around the world, expanding the reach of VCOM’s mission beyond the United States. Dr. Rawlins builds on a strong foundation established by Dean Sutphin, PhD, who spent more than two decades leading VCOM’s international outreach efforts. Communities around the globe are grateful for Sutphin’s tireless work to improve healthcare access.
