Public Health and Advocacy Training Lesson with Sports Medicine Aug. 15– VCOM-Auburn Sports Medicine welcomed Tuskegee University’s Athletic Training staff to campus for hands-on, interprofessional training. The session focused on spine boarding techniques for injured athletes, blending clinical knowledge with practical, team-based application. Poverty simulation Oct. 17– A two-day, interprofessional educational event hosted by VCOM-Auburn’s Preventive Medicine Department in partnership with the nonprofit organization Alabama Possible. It was designed to deepen understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing poverty. Education and Youth Engagement COSAM Pump up the Love Feb. 13– A special session of the Getting Under The Surface (GUTS) program held designed to inspire young students in grades 1–6 to explore science through hands-on activities. Research and Education Advancing Community Healthcare (REACH) Program Aug. 15– A collaborative grant initiative between East Alabama Health and VCOM-Auburn designed to support research that directly improves patient care. The program funds innovative, community-focused studies aimed at addressing real healthcare needs in east Alabama and beyond. Community Service and Disaster Relief Disaster Day April 18– An annual interprofessional emergency response simulation organized by VCOM-Auburn’s ACOEP, the event immerses students in a realistic, high-pressure scenario designed to mirror real-world emergencies. 20th Annual Fall Festival Oct. 11– A community-centered celebration bringing together VCOM-Auburn, local healthcare leaders, families, and community organizations.
