A Complete Commitment to Community Care O utreach plays a defining role in how VCOM educates community-focused physicians. Across the communities surrounding each campus and through international partnerships in Honduras and the Dominican Republic, VCOM students and faculty deliver care where access is limited and needs are greatest. From preventive health screenings to disaster relief and community-based clinics, these outreach efforts are designed to meet patients where they are. They also give students early, meaningful clinical experiences that do more than provide care in the moment—they help define the kind of physicians VCOM graduates become. Guided by faculty mentors and supported by a shared mission, VCOM’s students learn that service is not separate from medicine; it is central to it. I’m incredibly grateful for the hands-on experience, the chance to care for medically underserved patients, and the opportunity to learn from such compassionate preceptors and talented fellow students. This trip reinforced my passion for medicine and my commitment to serving communities in need.”
