From Monroe to the Mayo Clinic VCOM-Louisiana Graduate Genesis Lambert’s Match Day Milestone
W hen Genesis envelope, years of hard work came into focus. Surrounded by classmates and holding her breath, she scanned the letter and realized she had matched her top choice: a family medicine residency at Mayo Clinic. “I genuinely did not expect to match at my #1-ranked program. From the interview day to Match Day, my inner saboteur kept me from daydreaming about Mayo to protect myself from disappointment,” Genesis recalled. “It felt like time stood still,” she says. “Those tears were for the effort, for the people who believed in me, and for finally seeing in myself what they’ve seen all along.” Lambert opened her Match Day
A native of Monroe, Louisiana, Genesis earned her undergraduate degree in toxicology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe before completing her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at VCOM-Louisiana in 2025. Along the way, she spent years working at a local Italian restaurant, where connecting with regulars shaped her belief that listening and trust are at the heart of effective patient care. “That connection, that trust, it’s exactly what I want to bring to my future patients,” Genesis explained. VCOM-Louisiana gave her the space to fully embrace her identity as a future physician. “From day one, I felt welcomed. I found a place that honored the
whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and showed me there’s room in medicine for every personality. That authenticity is a strength, not something to hide.” Genesis shared. Through mentorship, service learning, and community engagement, she developed into a compassionate, community focused physician grounded in osteopathic principles. Genesis proudly carries the values of both ULM and VCOM-Louisiana into one of the nation’s most respected health systems. Her journey reflects what is possible when opportunity, support, and determination align— and how VCOM graduates are prepared to lead with skill, empathy, and purpose wherever they serve.
