VCOM’s Commitment to Military Service

L ike many U.S. communities, the armed services face a shortage of medical personnel. The Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) helps fill this gap by covering tuition, fees, health insurance, and providing a stipend for medical students who commit to serving as military physicians. Recipients repay the

scholarship with one year of service per year funded, with additional obligations possible. Each year, 35 to 50 VCOM graduates enter military service, with nearly 450 alumni having joined the U.S. Armed Forces since 2007.
