The Impact of VCOM T he impact VCOM is making on healthcare across the Appalachian and Delta regions is the result of a shared commitment to the College’s mission. That commitment extends beyond our campuses to the dedicated leaders who serve on VCOM’s governing and advisory boards. The VCOM Board of Directors provides oversight for the institution and all four campuses, ensuring that the College remains focused on its mission and strategic priorities. Each campus is also supported by a local advisory board, whose members offer guidance, regional perspective, and strong connections to the communities VCOM serves. Through their leadership and engagement, these boards help ensure that VCOM remains focused on educating physicians who will serve where they are needed most.

extends its sincere appreciation to Cindy Shepard Rawlins , retiring vice president for communications, marketing, website, and publications, for 20 years of dedicated service. Throughout her tenure, she played a significant role in advancing VCOM’s visibility and reputation, leading her division to earn more than 122 national and international awards for excellence through 2025.
