The holistic approach, compassionate and effective communication, and patient autonomy were the main reasons I chose to become a DO. I come from a small town in Southwest Virginia that is very medically underserved. Our closest NICU is in Johnson City, TN, but it truly serves all of the surrounding areas, including many Southwest

Virginia communities. Becoming a neonatologist will allow me to serve my community by caring for its newest, tiniest members.”
