VCOM 2024 Annual Report

Healing in Honduras VCOM’s Partnerships Beyond Borders

I n 2024, VCOM’s International Outreach teams expanded their legacy of service in Honduras, partnering with The Baxter Foundation and Mission Upreach to bring medical care to underserved communities in Tegucigalpa and Santa Rosa de Copán. Across four trips, VCOM students, faculty, and healthcare professionals transformed schools and churches into clinics, treating over 2,000 patients. VCOM also supports year-round partner clinics for continued care. Beyond clinical work, students gained invaluable experience in resource-limited settings, deepening their commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. Collaborations with in-country physicians and organizations ensured lasting impact, while moments of cultural exchange— whether through health screenings or shared meals—reinforced VCOM’s mission to prepare globally minded physicians. By fostering partnerships and delivering essential care, VCOM continues to make a profound difference in Honduras.

A New International Mobile Unit This vehicle was purchased in 2024 as a result of the strong partnership between VCOM and the Baxter Institute. It has been outfitted with a patient waiting area, standard exam room, dental examination area, and office space. The unit will increase the scope of care that can be provided in outreach around Tegucigalpa.
