revenue, and $29.2 billion in wages, salaries, and benefits to the communities they serve across the nation. Within VCOM’s target region, our alumni have created nearly 239,000 jobs, over $44.4 billion in revenue, and $19.9 billion

Analysis Method The NCAHD conducted a tracking analysis on all eighteen classes of VCOM alumni (3,616), finding 3,601 actively practicing (99%) in the United States. Over 70% of the alumni currently practice in VCOM’s target region. Physician economic impact research recently published by IQVIA (a research institute), conducted for the AMA of their physician Masterfile and IMPLAN data, was utilized by NCAHD in analyzing the impact of all VCOM alumni. VCOM’s National Center for Rural Health Works recently

updated the Primary Care Physician economic impact modeling tool used to determine the impact of primary care alumni. The state, local, and federal tax data are national average values generated by the Tax Foundation and represent taxes generated on the output spending, a combination of operating expenses spent by the physicians practicing medicine. Using the IQVIA national multipliers, the economic impact research data includes the direct, indirect, and

induced impact of VCOM alumni upon the nation and our target region.

The direct impacts include patient revenue, jobs created, wages and benefits, and state and local tax revenues. The indirect impact measures the impacts generated by the industries supported by physicians (e.g., nursing homes, pharmacies, laboratories, etc.). The primary care economic impact analysis data includes the impact that many primary care physicians have upon local clinics and the referring hospitals.
