Student Scholarships Ensuring Future Success

Patsy T. Smith Memorial Scholarship Geneva Bouton, Class of 2025 “The relationships made in smaller communities are so special, and to be a trusted provider for these populations would be an honor. I hope to be able to provide quality care to patients who otherwise may not see a physician due to the commute they would have to make.” Committed to helping others, these future physicians are critical members of our communities, supporting the health and well-being of their patients. Becoming a fully qualified physician is no easy task, and it comes with a financial burden that can be daunting, particularly for students who may come from underserved parts of the country. That is why we are so grateful for the generosity of the donors who make a very real difference in our graduates' abilities to provide healthcare across the United States and the globe. O n the following pages, VCOM highlights some of the medical students who have received your generous scholarship donations .

James “J” & Renae Pearson Medical Scholarship Tanner Lydic, Class of 2027 “As a Blacksburg resident for over six years and an aspiring anesthesiologist, I recognize this need in my rural community, and I am looking forward to practicing in a community where I can make the largest impact for the health and well-being of my patients.”
