Ouachita Parish Policy Jury Awards VCOM-Louisiana $1 Million for Purchase of Mobile Medical Units
T he Ouachita Parish Police Jury, the governing authority for Ouachita Parish in Louisiana, approved a $1 million award to VCOM-Louisiana for the purchase of two state-of-the-art mobile medical units. The mobile units will offer preventive medicine, primary care, geriatric services, immunization clinics and disaster relief assistance to underserved populations in Ouachita Parish and
the surrounding area. VCOM Louisiana will utilize the units to train medical students in community engagement, including involvement in vaccination clinics. During emergency and disaster relief situations, these medical units will be available to shift and serve newly displaced populations as needed. Each mobile unit will have vibrant VCOM branded wraps featuring VCOM-Louisiana students from local communities. It is anticipated that both mobile units will be on the VCOM-Louisiana campus by the end of calendar year 2024.
