VCOM 2023 Annual Report

2020 The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) recognizes VCOM for its ongoing COVID-19 vaccination efforts with their Community Hero Award. The College vaccinated people in the VCOM/DHEC COVID-19 vaccine clinic in the Northside of Spartanburg and across the state using its Mobile Medical Unit.

2022 VCOM International Clinical Rotations return after a hiatus of over two years due to COVID. VCOM-Carolinas students arrive in the Dominican Republic on Sept. 26, and train there for about 4 weeks. Community and International Outreach are important parts of VCOM’s mission.

2023 The SC Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare awards a grant to support a primary care mobile clinic. Along with St. Luke’s free medical clinic, faculty and medical students provide preventive services and public health education for rural and underserved patients weekly at satellite mobile medical locations.

VCOM partners with DHEC and Cherokee County School District to provide vaccinations as part of a pilot mobile vaccination program.
