M ake a difference in the world. Set out to train globally minded, community focused physicians to meet the needs of rural and medically underserved areas. That’s precisely what the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine was created to do. Spartanburg, South Carolina, has been the home of VCOM-Carolinas since 2011. Over the past decade, what resonates most from the students of today and the graduates of yesterday is the feeling of “home” here at VCOM-Carolinas. It is a place where we know each other well, we care for each other and we make memories that last a lifetime. Our graduates span from east to west, north to south, military and domestic, sports fields to international mission fields. VCOM is making a difference in the world. However, our passion never rests. It is with confidence and conviction that I truly believe the best is yet to come.
In addition to this community growth, VCOM-Carolinas has graduated nearly 1400 physicians. Our alumni live by the motto, “Bloom where you are planted, and be the best version of yourself.” Men and women from the Appalachian region and beyond have made VCOM-Carolinas their home and have become some of the most well-rounded, superbly trained physicians this country has seen.
