VCOM 2023 Annual Report
“Dr. Farwell shined a different yet familiar light onto the profession. Dr. Farwell's questions directed towards the patients weren't just about the symptoms they were presenting, but also focused on other factors in their life that might be affecting their symptoms as well. I saw how Dr. Farwell's line of questioning completely shifted the patient's attitude throughout the visit. Moments like these drive home that being a physician is more than just practicing medicine, but also listening to your patients.” During COVID-19, Samuel volunteered at the Cabarrus Health Alliance vaccine clinics and with the American Red Cross as a Blood Donor Ambassador. “It was rewarding to find a way to help people and the community during the pandemic, while at the same time being a part of the solution to the world's problems. Being a part of something that involved the use of medicine to help people further solidified my desire to go into medicine.” A resident of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Samuel is a 2016 graduate of Hickory Ridge High School and a 2020 cum laude graduate of UNC Charlotte where he earned a B.S. degree in biology. He is the son of Beryl and Reginald Kitchens.
