I have been lucky enough to be a part of quite a few international medical mission trips with VCOM including to Honduras and the Dominican Republic. Being able to see the students grow in their excitement for medicine and be able to help the local patients with their medical needs totally encompasses the mission of VCOM. These trips

2019 Via Learning Management System (VLMS) application is implemented, providing electronic clinic records and providing surveillance and epidemiological analysis/ research to identify hotspot for disease outbreaks, seasonal variation and other researchable questions.
2020 COVID-19 pandemic suspends VCOM’s in-person international program, while providing new opportunities for virtual collaboration through the Global Seminar for Health and Environment. International staff provides bi-weekly calls to monitor and assist affiliate clinics.
2022 VCOM signs agreement with SOUTHCOM for VCOM military medical students (HPSP) and veteran or active duty faculty members to serve in one-week outreach trips on board of the USNS Comfort hospital ship in the Dominican Republic and Honduras.
2023 In-person international trips resume following the COVID
pandemic. 2024
VCOM opens a new affiliated clinic in collaborating with Mission Upreach in Santa Rosa, Honduras.
