International Clinical Rotations Resume

A fter a long two-year hiatus due to stringent COVID-19 travel restrictions, VCOM students are once again able to participate in international clinical rotations. Third- and fourth-year students have the opportunity to complete a one month rotation in the Dominican Republic or Honduras as a result of pandemic restrictions being significantly lessened. During rotations, VCOM faculty physicians in each sustainable clinic site teach an international curriculum on topics such as tropical medicine, infectious disease, community healthcare for developing countries populations, care for victims of poverty, and public health measures. This international rotation experience enhances VCOM student’s clinical ability to practice medicine in the United States and abroad, their cultural competency, and global health awareness.
