VCOM 2022 Annual Report

Alumni Association Events AAO/AOASM Convocation The American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO), combined with the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM), held its Annual Convocation in Orlando, Florida, in March 2022. AAO has 9,500 members consisting of doctors of osteopathic medicine, osteopathic medical students and international affiliates. AOASM consists of over 500 members and is the largest multi-specialty physician sports medicine society in the United States. VCOM hosted a friends and family reception at the Rosen Hotel during the conference. ACOFP Convention & Scientific Seminars The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) held its 59th Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars in Dallas, Texas, in March 2022 where attendees immersed themselves in the latest trends in osteopathic family medicine and heard from leading experts. VCOM hosted a friends and family reception at the Hotel Anatole during the conference. VCOM-Virginia Homecoming Weekend The 2022 VCOM-Virginia Homecoming celebration weekend, attended by alumni from all class years, took place in Blacksburg, September 16-18, 2022. The full weekend of events began on Friday afternoon with Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, presented by VCOM Virginia alumni Ben Bring, DO, ’12; Kai Turner, DO, ’16; and Kim Simcox, DO, ’09. Additional events and highlights included an alumni dinner and reception at the Hahn Horticulture Garden, a Virginia Tech football game with a VCOM tailgate and a Sunday morning family hike to the Cascades Falls.
