My interest in global health and the pursuit of a better world is a large part of why I majored in anthropology and decided to pursue an education in medicine, and one of the main reasons I chose VCOM. VCOM International Videoconference Support

D uring COVID-19, the VCOM International Program launched a biweekly Zoom Video Conference, including all physicians in the VCOM clinics in Honduras, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic. Each session included reports on conditions in each country and sharing strategies for clinic activities, updates on VCOM medical school activities, updates and suggestions from Dr. Joe Bryan, previously with CDC regional directorate for the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. These sessions provided an outlet for the physicians to share and discuss their respective challenges and develop strategies together.

Dr. Bryan provided information from VCOM, which helped protect the physicians, adapt the clinic to reduce exposure and develop strategies for prevention, detection and care.
