VCOM 2021 Annual Report
The VCOM Alumni Association
T he past year was one of coming together to protect the communities VCOM alumni serve. Together, alumni supported vaccine efforts for medically underserved areas, helped international populations battle COVID, continued to mentor students, advocated for healthcare professions and started conversations on the health disparities that affect specific communities. Once again, VCOM alumni are examples of “living the Mission of the College” as they serve their patients throughout their careers. The “One College, Four Campuses” philosophy is ever-present in our alumni with the constant effort of providing high-quality healthcare to their constituents. Alumni continue to create seats for themselves at the table because, as physicians, they are the face of medicine. Patients with compromised immune systems were kept safe, which helped foster safe and comfortable environments during a tumultuous time. In addition, alumni reached out through social media to promote a positive image for those interested in medicine and combating misinformation. World views have been expanded by helping those in communities that lack resources. Motivating the future generation of physicians is an unspoken mission of VCOM’s alumni. The dedication to the education of current students is commendable. By participating in different programs to shadowing to signing up for a mentorship, alumni give it their all.". Alumni encourage the future generation of physicians to take the challenging steps in their careers. VCOM thanks our alumni for their dedication, care and compassion towards patients and students.
