VCOM 2020 Annual Report

SCHOLARSHIPS & GIVING

T he Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine received a generous grant from the Click and Pledge ® Foundation for the production of a film highlighting the College’s remarkable history and ambitious plans for the future. Through a number of personal stories, the film demonstrates the impact and opportunities VCOM has on improving healthcare for families living throughout its service region. Somebody Has to Care... The Next Generation Video Series A Special Grant from the Click and Pledge ® Foundation

Based on the theme, “The Next Generation,” the film shares inspirational stories about VCOM and how the College prepares competent and caring physicians who provide the best possible care for their patients. “VCOM knows the next generation of physicians must not just have the comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to care for their patients, but the ability to understand and empathize with them. As a College, we believe our patients deserve this, our students want this and our faculty are working hard to meet these needs,” according to President and Provost, Dixie Tooke-Rawlins, DO.

The film features a 2007 VCOM graduate who makes house calls on patients in far southwest Virginia, students and faculty members from the Carolinas campus who participate in a community and health screening outreach program in the rural upstate town of Pickens, South Carolina and scenes of Auburn medical students who responded to the needs of families affected by the deadly tornadoes last year in rural Alabama. They show us every day that somebody has to care .
