VCOM 2019 Annual Report

“ This Dominican Republic outreach trip greatly impacted the relationships in my life. As an introvert, this trip connected me to other students, and made me feel as if I am truly part of

the VCOM family. Furthermore, this experience made me better understand the true privilege of creating patient-provider relationships. I learned that even without knowing the same language, you can care for a patient and quickly develop an avenue of trust and understanding. It is a blessing to be in the position to help others and participate in community. Lastly, the trip changed my relationship that I have with medical school in general. I now realize that the hours and days of studying are paying off. I can now study for boards with confidence and trust in the process VCOM sets forth for us. I feel reinvigorated with my studies and am more excited
