VCOM 2019 Annual Report

Scholarship Highlights E very day, our friends and alumni create opportunities that lead to success for our students. Through the generosity of many, we are educating physicians and preparing them to make a difference in their communities. It is with great pride and gratitude we introduce you to a small sample of the dedicated students who attend VCOM as a result of your generosity.

William B. and Ann F. Holtzman Medical Scholarship “ Because I grew up in foster care and worked my way through college, I would like to work for a pediatric and family medicine clinic (or start my own) in or near my hometown of Chantilly, Virginia that devotes one day per week to serving patients who do not have health insurance. ” Megan Ohlfest Latonya Hendricks Carter Memorial Scholarship “ I have made efforts as an African American to represent VCOM well for potential minority candidates and to be an example of a minority student doctor that made it into medical school through setting a goal and studying hard. ” Robert Mosley Blake E. Fought Memorial Scholarship “ I am motivated to become an osteopathic physician because of the profession’s commitment to the patient-physician relationship, the importance placed on the physical exam and the tradition of practicing in underserved communities. ” Robert “Bobby” McCusker
