VCOM 2019 Annual Report

V COM focuses more than any other medical school in the region on recruiting students to meet the healthcare needs of medically underserved populations. As a college, we are committed to training the next generation of physicians who are making a difference in the communities where they work and serve. Last year, the College launched the “VCOM Challenge Scholarship Program” aimed at creating new, and adding to, permanently endowed scholarships for aid-eligible students. Since its inception, this program has inspired many individuals, foundations and corporations to invest in need-based scholarships for our students. On the following pages, you’ll get a glimpse of several of our donors, as well as the students who are recipients of these private scholarships. Private support is crucial to our ability to recruit and foster the kind of medical student who will most likely fulfill the College’s mission. These talented, hard-working students bring a wide-range of life experiences that enrich the education of everyone around them. Every gift, no matter the size, strengthens VCOM and is an investment in our future physicians. Thank you for helping us to improve the quality of life for families living in medically underserved areas all across America and beyond. MESSAGE FROM DEVELOPMENT Investing in theMission THIMOTHY G.
