VCOM - 2019 Annual Report

Duncan DuPre House T he Duncan DuPre house sits on the campus of VCOM-Carolinas. The 5,500 square foot Queen Anne style home was built by Bishop William Wallace Duncan in 1886 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was moved from its original location in 1999 and acquired by VCOM in 2012. Since then, the historic mansion, said to be Spartanburg’s first home with indoor plumbing, has undergone major renovations to its exterior and interior. Repairs were necessary after being unoccupied for many years. The College is currently fundraising to continue restorations to the interior. The home’s ten fireplaces and five chimneys, mosaic tile porch and abundance of hand-crafted decorative work will, upon completion, enliven offices, conference space and more. “ VCOM is a welcomed support to the medical community in Spartanburg and we are grateful for their passion to restore this precious gem, the Duncan DuPre House. We treasure the memories of the past that have brought so many smiles to the family. Thank you VCOM for putting a smile back
