Dr. Warren also purchased a trailer and medical supplies for use on this project through a recently completed grant: • Fullerton Foundation: Carolinas Campus disaster response team . Darlene Myles, DO, was also involved in this project. Dr. Beck is an assistant professor for cell biology and physiology at VCOM–Auburn. He is currently investigating the effects of nutritional supplements on athletic performance, and his interests focus on how nutrition and exercise affect the molecular environment of different tissues. Among his projects, Dr. Beck is working on the following extramurally funded project: • FutureCeuticals: Neurophysiological effects of whole coffee fruit concentrate in older adults with mild cognitive impairment: An fMRI investigation ; in collaboration with Auburn University. Kenny Brock, DVM, PhD Dr. Brock is the associate dean for biomedical affairs and research at VCOM–Auburn, where he has direct oversight of the research programs as well as faculty resources. His current funded research is investigating AUBURN Darren Beck, PhD
the potential of a new stem-cell harvest technique for point-of-care application. His other research interests are focused in pathobiology and immune response: • Arthrex: Quantification and qualification of stem cells after peripheral mobilization and harvest for orthopaedic point of care applications. Courtney Gamston, PharmD Dr. Gamston is the discipline chair for pharmacology at VCOM–Auburn. Her research interests are in both cell, molecular, and microbiology, and she has recently implemented diabetes education services at the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center. Dr. Gamston is the principal investigator on a project investigating diabetes prevention programs: • University of Alabama-Birmingham: Danielle McCullough, PhD Dr. McCullough is an assistant professor for anatomical sciences at VCOM–Auburn. Her research focuses on skeletal muscle histological techniques, cardio- pulmonary disease and exercise training as therapeutic intervention for chronic disease.
