VCOM 2017 Annual Report

inspired by our donors

Thim Corvin, MA Vice President for College Development and Alumni Relations

O ur alumni, volunteers, families, and friends inspire us and make the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) extraordinary. Your support and engagement gives us the ability to serve more students and fulfill our mission, inspiring our students to achieve their personal goals. Private support is important to VCOM, and helps the College to realize a vision that is as exciting as it is ambitious. The Office of College Development and Alumni Relations promotes VCOM and its programs to alumni, sponsors, and friends. Functions of the office include the identification, cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of those who would support the VCOM mission and programs as benefactors of the College. Our mission is threefold: • to support the mission and major programs of the College, • to assist donors in finalizing charitable gifts in a manner that will allow individuals and organizations to fulfill their philanthropic and financial goals, and • to help build an association of alumni and friends of the College who will collaborate and provide input into setting future goals. Our strength has always been our people. Your involvement and support this year is inspiring, as it touches many important initiatives, such as: • Scholarships for deserving students

• Appalachian medical outreach • International medical outreach • Simulation and Educational Technology Center • Updating and improving the campus • Academic programs • Supporting medical research • Faculty support

We thank you for your support and invite you to join us in celebrating the extraordinary successes of our students, faculty, volunteers, and donors who are working to improve the quality of life for families across southern Appalachia and beyond.
