Introduction VCOM graduates apply to and successfully match to residencies throughout the United States. The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Department at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) partners with regional affiliated hospitals committed to our mission by providing undergraduate and postgraduate academic training programs that actively promote excellence in osteopathic medical education and research. The majority of VCOM-affiliated hospitals are located in VCOM’s target region, which includes the Appalachian and Delta regions. VCOM-affiliated hospitals offer residencies in the following areas of specialty:

• Anesthesiology • Dermatology • Emergency Medicine • Family Medicine • Family Medicine-Rural • Internal Medicine • Neurology • Neurological Surgery

• OB/GYN • Orthopedic Surgery • Pediatrics • Plastic Surgery-Integrated • Psychiatry • Surgery • Transitional Year

The hospitals also provide fellowship opportunities in addiction medicine, adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery, cardiovascular disease, child and adolescent psychiatry, critical care medicine, emergency medical services, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, psychiatry, hand surgery, hospice and palliative medicine, infectious disease, interventional cardiology, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, rheumatology, sports medicine, surgical critical care, and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
