o Option 2: Follow an independent study plan.

 Those students who do not choose to attend an external immersion program and who choose to follow an independent study plan, will be placed on a temporary withdrawal and will not be permitted to complete additional rotations in the OMS 3 year until they receive a passing score on COMLEX Level 1.  Students on a temporary withdrawal must sit for COMLEX Level 1 within 60 days and must have a passing score within 90 days of being placed on withdrawal.  Upon receiving a passing score within 90 days, the student will be re-enrolled in the OMS 3 year curriculum.

• Students whose rotations are delayed due to a COMLEX Level 1 issues will be placed on an Altered Degree Plan of Study (ADPOS). For students placed on an Altered Degree Plan of Study for failure of COMLEX Level 1, every attempt will be made to provide rotations in the region to which the student was originally matched; however, due to a limited availability in the number of core rotations in some sites, the student may be required to do one or more of their rotations outside of the original core region to which they matched. • Students who have failed COMLEX Level 1 three times will be brought before the Promotion Board to be placed on academic probation. • Students who have failed COMLEX Level 1 four times will be brought before Promotion Board to be dismissed as students are required by VCOM and NBOME to pass within four attempts.

13.2 COMLEX Level 2 CE VCOM students are required to pass the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners’ (NBOME) COMLEX Level 2 CE exam as part of their graduation requirements. A passing score on COMLEX Level 1 is a prerequisite for taking COMLEX Level 2 CE. Students are approved to sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE after successfully passing all requirements of the OMS 3 year, which includes sitting for COMSAE Phase 2. Each year students are informed of the timeframe in which they are approved to sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE. Students are released to schedule COMLEX Level 2 CE by the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and CIFSS. Students are recommended to schedule COMLEX Level 2 CE from mid-June to late-July following the OMS 3 year. Students should schedule their exam as soon as released to secure a testing date and location within the approved testing window. If a student schedules the exam outside of the approved testing window, the student’s test date may be rescinded by the Campus Dean. Students who are following an Altered Degree Plan of Study are required to meet with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Associate Dean for GME, and CIFSS to determine the approved date of their COMLEX Level 2 CE exam.
