 Faculty members may not use letters from friends, collaborative partners in research, previous trainers with whom a relationship is maintained, or relatives.

A full-or part-time Academic Track faculty member seeking promotion in rank or seeking tenure will submit their completed portfolio to the appropriate Associate Dean, who will review the portfolio, and will consult with the Associate Dean to determine if any additional information is required. • A biomedical academic track faculty member must submit their completed portfolio to the Associate Dean for Biomedical Affairs (through the Administrative Assistant). • A clinical academic track faculty member must submit their completed portfolio to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs (through the Administrative Assistant). A Clinical Track faculty member seeking promotion in rank will submit their completed portfolio to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs (through the Administrative Assistant), who will review the portfolio, and will consult with the Associate Dean to determine if any additional information is required. A Research Track faculty member seeking promotion in rank will submit their completed portfolio to the Associate Dean for Biomedical Affairs and Research (through the Administrative Assistant), who will review the portfolio, and will consult with the Associate Dean to determine if any additional information is required. 3.10.5 The Review Process for Promotion and Tenure The Associate Dean will make recommendations for promotion in rank and the award of tenure once per academic year, no later than January 15th, after review of the annual faculty activity reports. • The Associate Dean, as Division Chair, and the Clinical Discipline Chair (when reviewing clinical track faculty) will review the faculty member’s portfolio. The Associate Dean will consult with the Discipline Chairs, Course Directors, and research administration regarding the faculty member’s performance. All materials will be reviewed and considered by the Associate Dean in making a recommendation to the APT for promotion in rank or award of tenure. • The Associate Dean and Clinical Discipline Chair (when reviewing clinical track faculty) will submit, in writing, to the APT Committee their recommendation for promotion in rank or award of tenure. The recommendation must outline the reasons for which the decision was based. The letter must be submitted to the APT Committee as part of the faculty member’s portfolio. • The Associate Dean will submit the faculty member’s completed portfolio to the APT Committee for consideration of promotion in rank or award of tenure. Upon receiving the completed portfolio, the APT Committee will review the portfolio and the recommendations for promotion in rank or award of tenure made by the Associate Dean, as Division Chair, the Clinical Discipline Chair for Clinical Track Faculty, and any other recommendations from the Discipline Chair(s), Course Directors, and research administration as appropriate.
