7. INSTITUTIONAL ACTIONS Institutional officials will take interim administrative actions, as appropriate, to protect Federal funds and ensure that the purposes of the Federal financial assistance are carried out. If a finding of misconduct is substantiated, VCOM may impose administrative actions, including, but not limited to: • Withdrawal or correction of all pending or published abstracts and papers. • Removal from the project or reassignment of duties. • Probation, suspension, or termination of employment/enrollment. VCOM will also identify any published research reports or other sources of scientific information that should be retracted or corrected and will take steps to ensure that appropriate officials who can affect these corrections or retractions are notified. 8. TRAINING AND EDUCATION VCOM will promote awareness of research integrity standards and this policy through education and training as appropriate. 9. DURATION OF POLICY The VCOM Policy on Research Misconduct is effective as of the date above and will remain effective until amended or terminated by the President, with approval by the Board of Directors.
